The South African Swing:
three tournaments, three weeks
From December to March, while golf at home is on hold for winter, some of the world’s best players come to South Africa. Four DP World Tour events are played at Sun City, Durban, Stellenbosch and Johannesburg. Each one is a reason to make the trip, and each sits close to the courses, wine estates and game reserves our guests come for anyway.
We build the trip around the tournament. You choose how many days you want at the course. We take care of where you stay, how you get there, when you tee off on your own days and what you do in the evenings, and one of our hosts is with you throughout.
We plan your trip around the tournament.
From late February, three tournaments run back to back.
It is a rare chance to follow the tour from the coast to the Winelands to the city, with your own golf and a safari along the way.

Frequently asked questions
Championship, SA Open and Joburg Open run in consecutive weeks, so you can follow two or all three. The Nedbank Golf Challenge is in December, and the tour moves to Mauritius the following week if you want to keep going.
No. Spectator tickets are sold by each tournament through its own ticket site. We will tell you which days to buy and let you know when sales open, and we plan everything else around your tournament days.
Not during tournament week, because the course is closed for the event. Gary Player Country Club and Durban Country Club are both on our regular itineraries, so we can book you a round at another point in your trip.
Thursday and Friday are quieter and you see every player in the field. Saturday and Sunday bring bigger crowds and the finish. Many guests watch two days and play on the others.
es. Partners can join for the tournament days they enjoy and spend the rest on safari, at wine estates, on the beach or at the spa.
As early as you can. The choice of hotels near each venue narrows in tournament week, and long-haul fares are usually better with notice.
Matko Golf Travel is an independent tour operator. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the tournaments, their sponsors, the DP World Tour or the Sunshine Tour.
